Morrell Development is a subsidiary of Morrell International and the company bringing The Legacy Project to life. Led by Phil Morrell, Morrell International was formed in 1996 and has since built and operated facilities all over the world. Highlights include the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, when Morrell International was asked to build housing for 6,000-plus members of the National Guard, who provided added security during the games post 9/11.
Morrell International subsequently fulfilled eight contracts to build and operate dining facilities on behalf of the U.S. military in Iraq, serving as many as 3 million meals per month. The company also completed multiple construction contracts in Iraq and operated a crushed limestone facility at Al Asad Airbase. Morrell International built and operated six water bottling facilities on U.S. bases in Iraq, acting as the sole supplier of bottled water to U.S. service personnel.
Morrell International has grown and flourished by operating successfully in some of the world’s most challenging environments, often on highly compressed timelines. Since 2003, the company has built a long track record of success in Iraq, implementing complete solutions for the US Army. In addition to Iraq, Morrell International and its leadership team have helped meet the needs of organizations in Sydney, Australia, eastern Turkey, earthquake-ravaged Haiti and the U.S. Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The company is headquartered in Salt Lake City, where Phil was raised and resides today.
The success of Phil’s companies has been built on a foundation of timeless ethics and values: integrity, trust, and reliability. That same commitment will be reflected in The Legacy Project. Company leaders believe that our word is our bond and that a contract signed is a contract met, if not exceeded. Our partners are held to the highest standards of ethics and transparency. The people and leaders of Morrell Companies are committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate and in the lives of people we serve and partner with, including customers, employees, suppliers and neighbors.
In Iraq, the Morrell Foundation developed and sponsored Employ Iraq, a nonprofit jobs initiative that employed hundreds of Iraqi workers in the renovation of more than a dozen schools. The company has also been committed to hiring local workers and partnering with local vendors and suppliers, consistent with contractual security requirements. In addition, Phil and the Morrell Companies have initiated multiple humanitarian efforts around the world, from Ethiopia to post-earthquake Haiti to the hurricane-ravaged U.S. Gulf Coast.
